This sounds all about health and well being and as they say health really is wealth because without good health it is hard to function to the maximum potential.  It is no surprise that Herbalife are the sponsors of this Triathlon a worldwide nutritional organization that has outlets in over 90 countries across the globe. Sanur will host the events. The triathlon starts early in the beautiful, calm waters of Mertasari Beach followed by bike sprints down the Ngurai Rai By Pass to the IB Mantra By Pass in Gianyar. This is a gentle reminder to motorists to perhaps avoid these areas on this particular day.  Although registration is now closed do come along and cheer the participants on and be a part of the spirit of the community in Sanur.

Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (25 – 29 October)

It is hard to believe that this world famous festival will return for its 14th year!  The festival is South East Asia’s largest gathering of writers, readers, artists and performances from across the globe. The festival has a five day programme of events and this year’s theme is ‘Origins’ which is drawn from the Hindu philosophy ‘Sangkan Paraning Dumadi’.  ‘Origins’ focuses on our eternal connection to where we have come from and to where we will return.  Besides writers and readers the festival touches upon some important issues and fosters a shared sense of responsibility and the capacity to respond to global concerns. Taking place in Bali’s cultural capital, Ubud, be prepared to journey to jungles, valleys and rice fields to find an amazing line up of  events over the course of the five days.  Open-air discussions, hands-on workshops, live music, film screenings under the stars, food markets, art exhibitions, cooking demonstrations are part of the festival. Last but not least the line up of international authors is fabulous with over 150 attending. I am going to mention a few just to get you excited! Ian Rankin, a British crime writer, Jung Chang famous for her novel ‘Wild Swans, Simon Winchester, Jane Harper, author of ‘The Dry’ and too many to mention here are all part of this year’s festival.  The programme of 200 events includes literary events, workshops, children and youth workshops and book launches. This is a readers and budding writers dream!  Thousands of creative minds will descend upon Ubud for 5 days of connecting, learning and inspiration.  The website below is comprehensive with times, venues and ticket prices.
